Columbus, Ohio – While starting as a small Italian grocery, RDP Foodservice has grown into one of the region’s largest independent food distributors. RDP Foodservice is the only broadline food distributor located in the Columbus Metropolitan area and are planning to increase their footprint with a brand-new expansion to their Hilliard, Ohio facility. With the recent signing of new customer contracts, RDP Foodservice will be adding 100,000 square feet of new warehouse space to manage the increased demand and growth. Additionally, their team of 123 employees will now grow by nearly one third, with 40 new jobs being added.
The $8,000,000 investment will fund both the expansion of their current facility as well as training for the burst of new employees. RDP Foodservice is located at 4200 Parkway Court in Hilliard.
“My two cousins, Rich and Chris DiPaolo, and I started RDP Foodservice with the mission to be the champion of the independent foodservice restaurant,” said Mark Mizer, President of RDP Foodservice. “Those establishments are the ones that create the culinary uniqueness of our community. RDP Foodservice has grown to one of the top 50 independent foodservice distributors in the country and we’re very appreciative of the city of Hilliard and the entire Columbus region for the support they’ve shown us.”
Long known as the pizza distributor for the region’s best pizza establishments. RDP has emerged as a broadline food distributor that is dedicated to providing excellent customer service and an unparalleled experience to the top restaurants in the fast and fine dining industries.
“RDP Foodservice has meant a lot to our city,” said Michelle Crandall, Hilliard City Manager. “Their decision to expand their operations speaks not only to Hilliard’s position as a city on the move, but also as one who knows how to appreciate companies who make our city their home.”
“The very nature of Ohio’s geography gives our state a competitive advantage for distributors like RDP Foodservice,” said J.P. Nauseef, President & CEO of JobsOhio. “It’s particularly rewarding when you see family-owned companies who utilize that advantage to embed their business in the Buckeye State. It does more than create jobs, it enhances the identity of the community that they call home.”
